Success Story – July – Jasmina Davis

Midlands Health and Rehab would love to shed light on a very special resident, Ms. Jasmina Davis.  Ms. Davis came to Midlands after a 10-day hospitalization at Prisma Health Baptist with an admitting diagnosis of hypomagnesemia.  Some of her other health concerns included: sepsis, multiple sclerosis, and pressure ulcers on both heels.

Upon admission to Midlands, Ms. Davis was experiencing extreme weakness in both legs, decreased endurance, poor standing balance, and required extensive assistance with most functional mobility tasks.  Ms. Davis wanted to be completely independent when she returned home so she made it a point to be one of the first patients to arrive at the therapy gym and at times would come twice a day.

Although decreased muscle strength and bilateral heel pressure sores were significant barriers, she continued to work and remained focused.  Because of her dedication and drive, and with the assistance of the entire interdisciplinary team, Ms. Davis was able to return home functionally independent with home health services!
